Annual Herb Sale

Each year, the members of the Tamanend Park Herb Gardening Club pull together to organize the annual herb sale.

It is always held the THIRD weekend in May, on both Saturday and Sunday, at the Farmhouse. Moneys raised from this annual event are put toward a scholarship fund for local students and speakers’ fees for club meetings.

The Teaching Garden

The club maintains a teaching garden in the park, next to the Farmhouse, which features various specimen plants in several categories: medicinal, culinary, silver, fragrance, and dyer’s herbs, as well as mints and teas, alliums, and oriental herbs. If you want to learn more about growing herbs, we always need volunteers to help in the garden with weeding, mulching, and general maintenance from April through October!

History of the Club

The Tamanend Park Herb Gardening Club was started in 1983 by four residents of Upper Southampton who were interested in herb gardening and herb use. In 1984, the first herb sale was held. The club has grown since then, and is active in many areas that involve herbs.
